We offer
presentations for educators and parents. Regardless of who is attending,
there is always an overview on why brains read well (theory), and what
needs to be accomplished when wonderful reading is not occurring (methodology).
There is also information on assessments and criteria for choosing materials.
In the presentations and workshops we focus on how to help readers replace
erroneous reading strategies with ones that work (practical application).
There are many claims about the best “how to” for helping
struggling readers, and Reading World believes that if an application
is grounded in theory and can be explained in a way that makes sense
to the participants, it’s worth trying.
In other words, we will share our “how to” along with the
theories, and reasons that cause our application to be effective, and
be open to making changes and modifications that make sense.
Workshops for teachers and presentations for parents allow time for
active participation. Concentrating on a “hands-on” practical
application makes this experience powerful and productive.
